The option for entering Single Layout Mode is available each time a new project is created. Choose New - Project from the File menu and click in the check box marked Single Layout Mode to activate the option.
Naturally, this will only create one single layout project. If you want all new projects you create in the future to have only a single layout, you will need to make it the default setting.
